Adelaide Strikers Team Preview
The Strikers play their home game against the favourites of Big Bash League, Melbourne Stars. Even before the start of the tournament they were left high and dry when the star West Indian all rounder, Kieron Pollard, was declared injured and out of the tournament. Given that each team could play only two overseas players it was big blow before the start. They have also roped in stylish Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardena which would really boost up the weak looking batting line up. This will be the debut match for Mahela in the Big Bash League. Adil Rashid is another overseas player who has been roped in by Strikers.
The command is given to the 40 year old veteran Brad Hodge who last played a competitive match in the Caribbean Premier League. He had a decent CPL as he scored two half centuries and made some useful contributions with the bat. This year Strikers has lost three important players in the trading window with Adam Zampa, Johan Botha and Shaun Tait out of the squad. They were the table toppers in the BBL 04 but having been stripped of some important players it will be interesting to watch how they fare in this season.
