CPL 2015 17th Match Preview
Guyana Amazon Warriors takes on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 17th tie of the tournament. The match will be played at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. It’s been the clash between the bottommost team and the number 3 team on the points table. A lot has been talked about the Warriors and their strange decisions in the previous games, sending Narine and Barnwell ahead of Umar Akmal which probably cost them the match against Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel.
This edition of CPL hasn’t been good for the Warriors so far as they have managed just a single victory in their 4 games. The only win was against the Patriots, who would be fired up to take revenge of their previous meeting today at the Warner Park.
On papers, the batting front looks solid as rock with the likes of L Simmons, TM Dilshan, Brad Hodge, Dinesh Ramdin, recently included Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal, Barnwell. But none has been able to stand up to the task whenever the situation aroused. The earlier encounter against the Patriots was conducive for them with Simmons’ 41 off 33 and Ramdin’s 54 off 35 which helped the team to cross the line in 16 overs.
Whereas, last two games for the Patriots have been sterling. Two mammoth wins for them against the best sides of the tournament, Barbados Tridents and Jamaica Tallawahs, one was a 8 wicket win while the other was a 119 runs victory. The whole unit must be charged up with the recent victories and would like to continue their winning streak today too against the Guyana Amazon Warriors, who are currently holding the last spot on the points table and still looking a way out to advance up the ladder.
It would be a great match especially with the in-form batsmen of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots against a fairly good bowling unit of Warriors. Hopefully the match goes right down to the wire and fans get worth of every penny spent on buying tickets.
