A dominating show was expected from Indian bowlers in this game but none of the fans expected such sort of dominating show from them as Indian fast bowlers made most out of the seaming conditions in England and packed the bags of Bangladesh on a mere score of 84, to post a thumping win over the Tigers to defeat them by a big margin of 240 runs.
Chasing a target of 325 was never going to be easy for Bangladesh and they were subdued under pressure all throughout the innings as half of their side was back in the pavilion with a score of 21. Another jitter came just after one run after with both Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar sharing three wickets amongst themselves.
The seventh wicket pair of Mehedi Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim delayed win for India by sharing 25 runs but it was a mere matter of time when it was all over for them as a score of 84 was what Bangladesh could manage. Apart from Bhuveshwar and Umesh, every other Indian bowler who was handed the ball took a wicket apiece.
It was a self-suicide from Bangladesh when they opted to ball as India, despite suffering few jitters recovered well. The defending champions made big experiments as neither Virat Kohli nor MS Dhoni came out to bat. In their absence, other batsmen made most out of the opportunity barring Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane. Returning fresh from vacation, Rohit Sharma did not have a good start as he was bowled on the score of one, which gave Bangladesh a big reason to smile brightly at the start. Rahane too failed to cash the opportunity and a score of 11 from him meant that he was not playing the first game against Pakistan.
Shikhar Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik put a break on fall of wickets and shared 100 runs for the third wicket, with both the batsmen showing promise. Dhawan continued his good form and scored a half century. Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik too got back in form and played an inning if 94 before retiring to give a chance to others
Indian middle order performed the responsibility quite well and an innings of 80 off 54 from Hardik Pandya led India to a big total of 324, which the opposition side couldn’t even come close to.
Almost all players of Indian team who was given a chance performed well, which has no created a problem of choice for Virat Kohli going into first league stage game against Pakistan.
