England vs Australia 2015
3rd ODI Cricket Match Prediction 2015
England vs Australia 3rd ODI Preview
With two out of two wins under their belt, the visitors would love to wrap-up the series in the third encounter scheduled to be played at Old Trafford, Manchester on Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Two games played earlier in this series clearly indicated the character of two different teams, one being the world champions and other still looking for their first ever title at the big arena.
England, on both the occasions was chasing a target of over 300 set by the mighty Australian batsmen, was forced to smell the defeat by the relentless Australian bowling attack. Despite of a good start by their batsmen in the first match, they were perfectly dragged back by the Australian bowlers. Being 193/4 at one stage, they were seven down at a score of 194, as a result falling short of the target by 59 runs.
Same story continued in the second game too when the hosts were nicely placed at 141/3 at the half way mark of their innings fell apart in no time. The brittle middle order was exposed once again as England lost 5 wickets in a matter of just 46 runs. J Buttler, M Ali, B Stokes, C Woakes none was able to rise to the occasion allowing the visitors to grab the second win of the five match ODI series.
Australia on the other hand has shown a character that we all expect from the World Champions. Despite of an unfortunate start in the second encounter with David Warner leaving the field in the first over of the match and unofficially being two down with 42 runs on the board at the end of 9 overs, they were finding a way to overcome the crisis. Captain Smith and Bailey came in with determination and guided the drowning ship perfectly with a 99-run partnership before Bailey fell off to right arm off spinner, M Ali.
Being adhered with a deep batting line-up, they managed a score of 309 runs in their 49 runs (reduced), all thanks to a brilliant innings by the all-rounder MR Marsh, who scored with a strike rate of 206.45 finishing his innings of 64 runs in 31 balls with 7 fours and 3 massive sixes. He was also named Man of the Match for his all round performance, 64 runs with bat and one crucial wicket of James Taylor. Maxwell and Watson played their part in the middle order scoring 49 and 39 runs respectively but weren’t able to convert their start into a big one.
The early wins in the series can be dedicated to the unmatched Australian bowling attack as they went on to chip away wickets at crucial times ensuring their team was ahead of England at every stage of the game. Cummins being the star performer in the previous game took four wickets while all others managed at least a wicket to their names at the end of the match.
With the injuries hitting Australian camp, it won’t be a walk in the park for them this time around. Three enforced changes are on cards for them before they walk down to the field at the Old Trafford. Warner, Watson and Nathan Coulter-Nile are the trio who won’t be a part of playing XI in the upcoming third encounter and also for the rest of the series. Players replacing them are Aaron Finch, Peter Handscomb and John Hastings.
