5th ODI Cricket Match Prediction 2015
England vs Australia 5th ODI Preview
After being2-0 down the series is levelled at 2-2 and the decider is all set to take place on Sunday. England, after being 2 down in the series, came back strongly to win the last two ODIs against an injury-hit Australia.
Australia, after winning the toss and electing to bat had the worst possible start with the score 30-3 as top three of the Australian batting order were back in the pavilion. However, Maxwell came to the visitor’s rescue as he plundered 85 off 64 balls to not only rescue Australia from the crisis but put them firmly ahead in the game. From being 3.75 in the first hour of the game they were soon 1.50 but only to lose the initiative once Maxwell departed.
Bailey, though played a supporting role, was not good enough on the day and could not get a move on as he ended with a strike rate of 68. After salvaging their position they were once again reeling at 215-7 but only to come back with a ninth wicket partnership of 84 runs. Matthew Wade (50 off 26) and John Hastings (34 off 26 balls) helped the visitors set hosts a target of 300 runs in 50 overs.
Australia was a little weak on the bowling front as they rested Mitchell Starc to include a batsman, Marcus Stoinis, which meant Marsh and Maxwell had to bowl the maximum of the quota of 20 overs. This is what hurt Australia as their bowlers Hastings and Pattinson had an off day both of them giving away runs in excess of seven.
England’s innings was paced perfectly by Eoin Morgan, a job which Bailey could not do for Australia. Like Bailey, Morgan started off slow and was looking to settle first but as the time went he became confident and unfurled himself onto the Australian bowlers. He reached from 50 to 92 in 26 balls.
