India vs SriLanka 2015
3rd Test Match Prediction 2015
India vs SriLanka 3rd Test Preview
The swansong for the greatest wicket keeper-batsman is over and now everyone can focus on how competitive this series between the two cordial neighbours has been and the decider, which starts on Friday, could be decisive for both the teams.
Both the teams are going through a lean patch in the Tests as Sri Lanka’s last series win came in 2014 against Pakistan in a home series. For India, the wait has been longer and they have not won a single Test series since the retirement of the all time Sachin Tendulkar. Worst is the fact that since his retirement India has won just two games since 2013 in Tests and the second one came just a few days ago in the second Test against Sri Lanka.
It will be a relief for team India as they are playing in conditions which suits them the best and their spinners are leaving no stones unturned in exploiting the conditions. Two of the Indian spinners, R Ashwin and Amit Mishra, are respectively highest and second highest wicket takers of the series with 17 and 12 wickets respectively.
But the team has not stayed away from injury and surprisingly it is not the injury prone bowlers but the batsmen who have suffered from the injury. First it was Shikhar Dhawan and now Murali Vijay and Wridhiman Saha are out of the third Test.
Sri Lanka on the other hand have found new heroes at the time Sanga has retired with Dinesh Chandimal’s swagger in the first Test got them the win despite being in an unenviable position in the first innings. He is the highest scorer of the series till now with 247 runs at an average of 82.33.
In the bowling department, much to the relief of Sri Lanka, Rangana Herath has looked in his own with 12 wickets in the series which includes a match winning performance in the second innings of the first Test.
