Two of the most consistent teams of the IPL face off at Chennai in the Game 28 of this edition. These two teams account for four years of championship out of the seven tournaments played. In terms of team combination both the teams are reluctant to make too many changes and more often than not play a stable playing XI.

Chennai Super Kings is at second position on the points table and have lost just one game of the six they have played. They are behind the table toppers, Rajasthan Royals, by one point with two games in hand. As always they look all set to make it to the play offs and unlike last time look good to make it to the top two.

The manner in which they won against Kings XI Punjab tells us the ability of this team. They did not gave the opposition a chance to come back into the match after initial onslaught. The opening combination of Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith has given them the start from where the opposition teams have found it difficult come back into the match.

The middle order, which includes Raina, De Plessis, Bravo and Dhoni, has picked up after initial hiccups. MS Dhoni has been patchy in this edition with some innings suggesting he is in great touch but in some matches looked horribly out of touch. Dwayne Bravo has done well whenever he was given a chance to perform with the bat and Du Plessis too has enjoyed his new role as the finisher.

Pace bowling is solely handled by the veteran Ashish Nehra with 12 wickets in the tournament already and at second spot on the wicket takers list. Spin bowling, which is the strong point of their bowling, finally came good and looked like taking wickets against KXIP. The spinners, Ashwin and Jadeja, bowled eight overs in total giving away 36 runs and accounting for five wickets.

Kolkata Knight Riders, another consistent team of this edition, has won three out of six games with one no result against Rajasthan Royals. They lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in a curtailed match where they required 118 off 12 overs but fell short by 16 runs.

Gautam Gambhir has led the team from the front and has impressed one and all with his batting and captaincy. He has been aggressive and backed his bowlers to pick up wickets every time. The field placement too has encouraged the bowlers to bowl a wicket taking line and length.

However, his other opening partner, Robin Uthappa, has not fired till now but showed signs of form in the last game. In the middle order Manish Pandey needs to contribute a bit more for his team.

In the bowling department Sunil Narine being reported for chucking is a big blow to the team. However, he will be available for selection in the games to come before his result for the tests comes in. KKR has options to replace Narine with Brad Hogg warming the bench.
