IPL Prediction for CSK v KXIP Match
CSK look to extend their winning run
Match 24: CSK v KXIP
Date and Venue: 25th April, 2015 Chennai
Head to Head: Played 14 CSK 8 KXIP 5 NR 1
When these two teams faced off in the last season each time Kings XI Punjab got the better of Chennai Super Kings. Having a good season, Chennai Super Kings managed to beat every team in the tournament but never got the better of KXIP. Ultimately it was against this team that CSK lost a spot in finals.
Cut to this season KXIP has not been the same side which we saw in 2014 edition and CSK is still the same side which we saw last season. Winning four of the five matches played they are sitting pretty at the second position on the points table. But KXIP is involved in the mid table battle as they won two games of the five games they have played.
Chennai Super Kings has done what they are known to do the best. Playing a team without too many changes, every player contributing in the win and perfect execution of plans. They have been doing this year after year and is the most consistent team of the IPL.
It is not just the bowling and batting but the fielding which has placed CSK right on top. Its perfect example was the game against RCB which made a par score of 181 runs on a belter Bangalore pitch above par due its fielding. The crucial point was the run out of AB Devilliers who looked ominous as he tonked two sixes in as many overs with ease. The athleticism of their fielders handed CSK the win over RCB.
As much the fielding, the bowling too deserves accolades for restricting RCB on that pitch. One name which comes to mind is the veteran Ashish Nehra who has surprised one and all with his discipline in bowling. He is the second highest wicket taker of the tournament.
Kings XI Punjab has managed to hold onto their campaign by securing a super over win against the table toppers Rajasthan Royals. Chasing a score of 192 their replacement for George Bailey, Shaun Marsh, made 65 off 40 balls and also hit three fours in the super over to set RR a target of 16 runs in the super over. David Miller too chipped in with 54 off 30 balls but could not stay till the end.
Bowling, however, looked clueless and apart from Sandeep Sharma everyone went for plenty. Their main concern will be the form of Mitchell Johnson who has not been able to perform according to his reputation. He has been ineffective and not able to contain at the end of the innings, a role which his fellow teammate, Mitchell Starc, plays so well for RCB.
