IPL 8 Qualifier 1 Preview
IPL Prediction MI vs CSK Match
Mumbai and Chennai Eye Finals Spot
Qualifier 1 : MI v CSK
Date and Venue: 19th May 2015, Mumbai
The race for the Finals has begun and it will be Chennai and Mumbai battling it out for the place in the Finals. However, being in the top two on the points table even if they lose they will have another go at the finals spot.
Chennai Super Kings has not been their usual self in the tournament though they ended at top of the points table. Uncharacteristically they have had far too many batting failures in the tournament with their middle order letting them down in almost every game. It is safe to say that the matches they won were on the back of some clinical performances by their bowlers, especially spinners.
Their batting mainstay in the middle order, Suresh Raina, has had a disappointing IPL so far as he has managed two fifties and no substantial scores after that. MS Dhoni and Faf Du Plessis looked on the cusp of their form but the runs they are gathering have not been enough. Dwayne Bravo has not been used enough in the batting and Pawan Negi has been preferred over him. While another left hand all rounder has disappointed and it will be safe to say Dhoni has lost confidence Ravindra Jadeja as a batsman.
Their bowling has won them three to four matches defending a score which probably most of the teams would have failed. But these were on the pitches where there was some assistance for their bowlers and it will be interesting to see how they bowl on a batting friendly pitch at Wankhede.
When it comes o handling pressure in big games like these there is no one better than MS Dhoni and it will be a big plus for CSK in a crunch game like this.
Mumbai Indians has stunned one and all by repeating the comeback after four straight defeats earlier in the tournament. This time they have bettered their comeback than last year as they are in top two this time around. But it will be fair to say that they got assistance from the teams at the top as they did play bad cricket in the second half.
Like Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians too have been reliant on their bowlers to slate their comeback into the tournament. But it was not Malinga but Mitchell McCleneghan who has been phenomenal since he has been inducted in the team after Corey Anderson was injured.
Their batting apart from the openers has been bits and pieces with Rohit Sharma not among the runs after his first innings of 98 runs. Ambati Raydu has found his way back after being out of sorts. However, game changer in the batting department has been the youngster Hardik Pandya as he has won two games for Mumbai Indians now.
If they need to get past CSK, who everyone knows is a tough opposition to beat, they need their batting to perform and not just the opening batsmen.

The Pitch Report CSK vs MI Qualifier 1
