IPL 7 is over and it’s a new start for both the teams in this edition of Indian Premier League. Last year being the best for the Punjabis as they put up a remarkable show last season but missed out on the final day of the tournament against Kolkata Knight Riders. The squad under the captaincy of George Bailey have marked their presence in the league last year and with no major changes in the unit, they are hoping to continue the similar run this time too. While Rajasthan Royals managed a fifth spot on the points table in IPL7 with 7 wins and 7 losses under their belt. They would like to go further this time though with some class Australian players in their line up.
Talking about Kings X1 Punjab, they would be the toughest side to beat in this edition too with the destructive power in their batting line up with the likes of Sehwag, Maxwell and Miller, no team can expect a clean win if any of the above is at the crease. With 5 more than 100 run partnerships in the previous edition of IPL, the batting looks inimitable. Manan Vohra, Wriddhiman Saha and George Bailey form the solid middle order for the Kings. A new addition to this batting line up this season is Murli Vijay who is likely to share the 22 yards with Virender Sehwag at the top of the order. Pace department is led by an Australian front line bowler, Mitchell Johnson along with some impressive Indian seamers in the likes of Sandeep Sharma, Shardul Thakur and Parvinder Awana. The new find for IPL last year in form of Axar Patel will serve the team as the front line spinner.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals is led by an Australian top order batsman, Shane Watson who definitely wants to see his team in the last two of the tournament. The team is powered with an impressive young find for India, Ajinkya Rahane whose popularity in international cricket world has shown a significant rise, an in-form right handed batsman Steve Smith, promising and future of Indian national team, Sanju Samson, Stuart Binny, an Australian all rounder, James Faulkner and Rajat Bhatia. A New Zealander, Tim Southee will lead the bowling attack for RR and the 43 year old Pravin Tambe would serve as a lead spinner.
KX1P Probable X1: Virender Sehwag, Murali Vijay, Manan Vohra, Glenn Maxwell, George Bailey (c), David Miller, Wriddhiman Saha(wk), Mitchell Johnson, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Sandeep Sharma
RR Probable X1: Ajinkya Rahane, Karun Nair, Shane Watson(c), Steve Smith, Sanju Samson(wk), James Faulkner, Stuart Binny, Rajat Bhatia, Dhawal Kulkarni, Tim Southee, Pravin Tambe
Kings X1 Punjab is 1.52 to win the match and with batsmen like Miller, Maxwell and Sehwag, they are expected to be at that price. Also an impressive last year’s performance will bode well to their prospects. We are backing Kings to start their IPL8 season with a win.
