IPL 8 Match 51 Preview
IPL Prediction for MI vs KKR Match
KKR Takes on Mumbai
Match No 51: Mi v KKR
Date and Venue: 14th May 2015, Mumbai
Head to Head: Played 15 MI 10 KKR 5
This IPL has come a full circle as the first match is being played again between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians. The first match of IPL 2015 was between these two teams at Kolkata and after a horrid start for Mumbai they bounced back to score 168 runs with captain Rohit Sharma scoring 98. However, it proved insufficient for their bowlers as Kolkata chased it down easily.
Since then Mumbai Indians has had a topsy turvy journey in this IPL as they lost four matches after that only to come back later in the tournament with six wins under their belt in the 12 games they have played. however, their poor start is haunting them now especially after they lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the run fest at Mumbai.
Their net run rate has taken a hit after a few huge losses and is currently in the negative (-0.302) which may hamper their passage to the playoffs. Having said that they have played some brilliant cricket in the latter half of the tournament. Their bowlers have found rhythm and both Malinga and McCleneghan have done brilliant job with the ball.
Kolkata Knight Riders are at second position with 15 points in the 12 matches they have played. They just need another win to go through to the playoffs. With the kind of form they are in and the team they have it will be a surprise if they do not make it to the last four.
Their number three batsman is a matter of concern for them though as Manish Pandey has not been contributing enough. Two big men for KKR have performed exceptionally with the bat, Andre Russell and Yusuf Pathan. Both of them have played some match winning knocks for the team. Pathan has always looked uncomfortable at the crease but somehow has managed to settle in and go big.
With two mystery bowlers Sunil Narine and Brad Hogg bowling well they don’t need to think beyond them. The team’s prospect will be bolstered by the return of Bangladesh all rounder Shakib Al Hasan who will be handy with the ball too. With Russell bowling well at the death they can afford to play as many spinners.
