IPL 8 Match 29 Preview
IPL Prediction for RCB vs RR Match
RR takes on rejuvenated RCB
Match No 29: RCB v RR
Date and Venue: 29th April 2015, Bangalore
Head to Head: Played 14 RCB 7 RR 6 NR 1
Game 29 is between teams whose journey in this edition has been a mirror image of each other’s. While RR dominated the proceedings in the first half of the tournament and now has subdued a little, RCB started off poorly only to pick up the games later.
Starting off the season with a win against reigning champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, it looked like this will be a season where RCB will do justice to its line up. But after that win they lost three consecutively creeping up the apprehensions that this will be another season where their performance is below par.
But the way they have picked up with not just the wins but the manner in which they won is encouraging to watch. The ostensible reason behind their buoyant efforts is the return of Mitchell Starc. Since his return RCB has won by nine and ten wickets and Starc’s performance has been 3-20 and 3-22 in the four overs he has bowled. He has brought down that score RCB conceded on regular basis which their batting fire power too found difficult to manage.
The RCB management decided to end the experiment of dropping Gayle after one match and since then he has shown signs of being in form. Though the batsmen had not much to do in the two wins but the batting line up rejig has certainly helped them. It will be interesting to see if they continue with this order.
In the bowling it is a relief for them that not only Starc but all the bowlers have chipped in to support him. Varun Aaron was adjudged man of the match against Delhi Daredevils for his performance of 2-24 in four overs he bowled.
Rajasthan Royals, after an impressive win against CSK to make it five out of five wins, has lost two consecutive matches to KXIP and RCB. The latter would have hurt them as they were completely swayed away by RCB as they lost by nine wickets. Batting first they scored a paltry 130 runs on a pitch which looked not that bad. After losing the openers none of the batsmen except Steve Smith stayed on the crease. But Smith too was unable to accelerate after settling in as he got out to his teammate Mitchell Starc. The youngsters, who have done so well for the team, got out playing a rash shot whether it was Hooda, Samson or Karun Nair.
As was expected once the openers misfired the middle order crumbled under the pressure. They need a batsman who could bat along with Smith in that middle order. Sanju Samson’s form has been a concern for RR as he was the in-form batsman for them last year.
