IPL 8 Match 52 Preview
IPL Prediction for SRH vs RCB Match
SRH takes on RCB in a battle for top
Match No 52: SRH v RCB
Date and Venue: 15th May 2015, Hyderabad
Head to Head: Played 5 SRH 3 RCB 2
The last time these two teams played against each other at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore Sunrisers came out on top. Batting first RCB made a below par 166 on a true batting wicket at Bangalore. But at that time RCB had not sorted out their team combination and the batting positions of their big three remained uncertain. Also big factor was the absence of their star bowler, Mitchell Starc from the bowling line up.
Sunrisers Hyderabad too had similar problems as their opponents. Their team combination was undecided and they were confused whether to go for an extra bowler or use one of the two champion bowlers from Trent Boult and Dale Steyn. As it turned out they played their best when they left the two out and bolstered their batting.
Main problem for the Sunrisers was none of the batsmen after David Warner was able to contribute and lend impetus to the innings. As it turned out sending Moises Henriques at number three was a great move for them. Henriques moulded his game for his team’s need as he tries to stay till the end. He played a beautifully constructed innings against Delhi Daredevils to give them a match winning score.
The bowling line up boasts names of some Indian fast bowlers like Bhuwaneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar. However, their strategy to bowl Ishant Sharma at the death may backfire them as he has not looked like the bowler who could bowl at the death. He almost gave failed to defend 28 runs off the last over against Kings XI Punjab.
Royal Challengers Bangalore is currently at fifth position with 13 points and will most probably need two wins to make it to the playoffs. After initial hiccup in the tournament losing three on the trot they came back valiantly. However, any stutter here might see them out of the tournament.
The top three batsmen for them, Gayle, Kohli and Ab De Villiers have done most of the scoring. Though Mandeep Singh, Sarfaraz Khan and David Wiesse have been impressive in patches but still RCB depend heavily on their top three for big scores.
The bowling line up is lit up by the presence of Mitchell Starc and before that their bowling was being plundered all round the ground. Since his comeback Starc has picked up 17 wickets with an economy of 6.5. Harshal Patel too has been impressive as he has skid the ball and been difficult to handle.
