Game 20 : Big Bash League 2014-15
Perth Scorchers Vs Brisbane Heat
It is the battle between number two and number eight on the points table. Perth Scorchers, who have won 3 out of 5 games played, are sitting pretty at number two position while Brisbane Heat, won just one out of four games played.
Brisbane Heat promised much after their win by one run against Melbourne Stars but they were not lucky enough to say the least after the game against Melbourne Stars. In the two games they played after that they were in a winning position for most part of the game but somehow an extraordinary innings defeated them. Whether it was the defeat after scoring a total of 208 or the defeat after managing 152 they were in a shaking hand distance with the win.
They had Adelaide Strikers in the stranglehold after reducing them to 66-4 in the 11th over but the batsman thereafter saw them home quite comfortably. And it is not everyday that teams get defeated after scoring 208 in a T20 game.
Perth Scorchers on the other hand hit the road block last match after their bowlers, who were the crux of their win, conceded 179 runs to the Sydney Thunders batsmen. It is a bit startling that they are number two on the points as they don’t have the squad to deliver this performance and before the start of the tournament no one would have thought as their two main players, Marsh brothers, were unavailable for them. However, their bowling is arguably one of the best in the tournament.
Perth Scorchers squad :
Big worry for Perth has been their batting as they have managed just 134 and 133 in their last two games. The 13-man squad for the scorchers is :
Adam Voges (C), Ashton Agar, Yasir Arafat, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendroff, Michael Carberry, Mathew Dixon, Marcus Harris, Brad Hogg, Michael Klinger, Ashton Turner, Andrew Tye, Sam Whiteman.
Brisbane Heat Squad :
Big news for them is that Dan Christian will be missing the game due to a thumb injury. His place is taken by all rounder Simon Milenko. The squad for tomorrow’s game is :
James Hopes (C), Ben Cutting, Ryan Duffield, Andrew Flintoff, Jason Floros, Peter Forrest, Cameron Gannon, Chris Lynn, Simon Milenko, Jimmy Pierson, Nathan Reardon, Dan Vettori, Mark Steketee.
Past Records :
These two sides faced each other in the Final of Big Bash League 2012-13 where Heat triumphed at Perth making them second champions of BBL. The Heat also won the re match in the round game in the previous Big Bash League as Chris Lynn thumped Perth with his 83 runs as they chased down 152 runs.
The Pitch :
The match is to be played a The Furnace, WACA Perth. If we take a look at the matches played at Perth this season we get scores of 179-192-146 in the first innings while the teams scoring 179 and 192 won the match batting first in the other game team batting second won the match. However this ground has never been a high scoring ground and expect an equated contest between ball and bat.
The Odds :
Perth Scorchers are 1.61 to win the match and given the feeble batting they possess this price is more on the base of good matches they have had this season. They do not deserve such a short price and we recommend to back-to-lay Brisbane Heat. However, keep the bet greener towards Perth Scorchers as we believe they will win tomorrow.
