Teams look to resurrect their campaign
Its the game 11 of the Big Bash League 2014/15 and we have already witnessed the top quality of cricket that Big Bash League promises every season.
The tournament has got into that phase where if the team does’nt perform well now they could really be playing catch up rest of the tournament so its imperative for both the teams to playing tomorrow, Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunders, to win the match to be in the contention for that place in top four.
Melbourne Renegades are currently at number seven on the points table with losing both the matches they have played till now. They lost convincingly in both the matches with losing by eight wickets to Sydney Sixers and by 35 runs to Perth.
The game tomorrow will be the first home game for the Renegades this season and with the hope that they can turn it around in front of the home crowd. The manner in which they lost the games was surprising if we take a look at the squad they have. Aaron finch needs to fire from them and lead them from the front being a captain.
Sydney Thunders on the other hand started the tournament with a blast with the old timers Hussey and Kallis finding the groove with the scores of 96 and 97*. The total they ended up with was 208 and proved to be enough for them to start on a winning note.
But their second match was a complete down turn for them as in the clashes of Sydneys they lost by sixteen runs. The deficit, 16 runs, may seem like a close game but it was mainly due to the late blitz by Blizzard as he ended up with a score of 80 off 42 balls but was not enough for Thunders as they ended up sixteen runs short. Thunders too have a formidable batting and will be interesting to watch the T20 specialists from both the teams in action tomorrow.
Melbourne Renegades Squad :
The squad for the Melbourne Renegades has been announced and we have two important changes in the squad for them. They will go for an all out bowling attack for tomorrow’s game with the return of James Pattinson, Peter Siddle and Nathan Rimmington.
The trio come in for Andrew Fekete, Nick Winter and Tom Beaton. Rimmington comes into the squad after a toe injury kept him out.
Aaron Finch(C), Fawad Ahmed, Dwayne Bravo, Tom Cooper, Callum Ferguson, Aaron’ O brien, James Pattinson, Nathan Rimmington, Peter Siddle, Ben Rohrer, Andre Russell, Mathew Short, Mathew Wade (Wk).
Sydney Thunders Squad :
The Sydney Thunders have a well balanced squad and they are sticking with that for the game against Renegades. Their squad looks like this
Mike Hussey, Ahillen Beadle, Aiden Blizzard, Pat Cummins, Chris Hartley, Nathan Hauritz, Jacques Kallis, Josh Lalor, Eoin Morgan, Andrew McDonald, Dirk Nannes, Gurinder Sandhu.
Past Records :
Last time these two sides played at Melbourne (Docklands) in the season 2013/14 Sydney Thunders won the match one sided by nine wickets as Melbourne Renegades was bundled out for 104 runs batting first. In the second season when these two teams met, Renegades won it by 5 wickets while in the inaugural season Renegades was once again the winner. So it is 2-1 in favour of Renegades in this case.
The Pitch :
Game 11 is to be played at Melbourne Docklands which is the home ground for Melbourne Renegades. Taking a look at the team totals for the last season, the totals look like 210-163-104-151. Two games were won by the teams batting first which included the game which saw the total 210 and 151 while the teams batting second won the game two times.
The Odds :
Renegades is 1.71 to win the game which is a bit skewed as Thunders too have a formidable line up and surely for a T20 game we would back them bring Renegades above 2.0 so we recommend to back-to-lay Thunders.
