NewZealand Team Preview for T20 World Cup 2016

New Zealand are the dark horse of the ICC tournaments and it is generally believed that without the players which takes it for a team to go ahead in the tournaments like these New Zealand more often than not goes ahead. But this can’t be said anymore as this team has got number of match winners despite Brendon McCullum missing from the squad.

In the warm up match against Sri Lanka they plundered 226 runs with Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson, Collin Munro and Corey Anderson all contributing in batting. It can be said that in the batting line up they have got all bases covered with middle and lower middle order in form. Ross Taylor returns from injury but will be short of match practice.

In the bowling line up they have quality fast bowlers in Tim Southee, Adam Milne and Trent Boult but one department they may be lacking in is Spin department with inexperienced Ish Sodhi and ineffective Nathan McCullum handling the spin department.

Looking at their group, it seems tougher of the two with Bangladesh, possibly, being the fifth team. India and Australia, the power house of the group, will be difficult to overcome and Pakistan will not be mellow in Asian conditions. Having never going past the group stage after the inaugural edition they will do pretty well if they manage to go past group stage this time around and in all possibility, for that to happen, they need to overcome Australia on 18th March.
