West Indies Team Preview for World T20 2016
West Indies’ players have lit up the T20 leagues worldwide but when it comes to play for their team they have quite dramatically fizzled out. Winning the 2012 edition of World T20 they were a side to beat with players for every situation. But this year’s campaign has been clouded with controversy even before the start of the tournament.
Their T20 squad was weakened by the injuries to Kieron Pollard and last minute pull out by Sunil Narine citing the lack of match practice. To make matters worse, Darren Bravo too pulled out so that he could focus on longer format of the game.
However, such is the strength of this West Indies team despite these omissions they could still pack a punch with the personnel they have with Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Darren Sammy and Samuel Badree forming the core of a strong team. The scheduled fixtures have Mumbai, Bengaluru and Nagpur, all being batting paradise, as the grounds on which they will play their group games.
Explosive batsmen, guile spinners, genuine all rounder are the ingredients every team is looking in their T20 squad and West Indies possess all three. But it will be the case of clicking together as a team and if they do they will cause problems in that group.
